Carmen...

...by the Spanish Dance Company of Aida Gomez. Went to the dance performance of "Carmen" with Lini on 15 Oct. As usual, we had our favourite Peranakan dinner before the show. And there was a live band performing at the waterfront too, and we stayed for the "mickey" song. The actual Carmen performance itself was rather short; only 70 minutes without the encore. There were some gorgeous movements and colours, but these were fleeting. Overall, the sets were minimal, the flamenco repetitive, the dialogue non-existant (not that I was expecting any), the posturing incessant, and the music an odd mixture of Bizet's sumptuous score with some modern under-powered guitar bits. It was pretty boring for some stretches and we were glad it was only 70 minutes long. As sexy as she was, we couldn't wait for her to die. Too much hype, me thinks. Yawn...
