Of course, no posting on Sg Buloh is complete without photos of birds. But birds are a difficult subject because they're all more than 30m away and like I said in the previous post, 200mm is peanuts when it comes to bird photography... But here are some attempts; the Striated Heron at the top, the Great Egret at 2nd, the Purple Heron at 3rd, and the tiny Curlew Sandpiper at the bottom. They're all known as "birds of the mudflats". What I love about Sg Buloh is that the birds here are not captive, like in Jurong Bird Park. The birds are here for food and rest on their own will. You see native and migratory birds, not penguins and flamingoes. It's like the kick you get from photographing fishes which you stumble across while diving instead of finding in aquariums. Of course, the other thing I love is that admission charge to Sg Buloh is $1 on weekends (it's free during weekdays), while it is $18 at Jurong Bird Park.
