Dover MRT

Although the earlier MRT Stations in Singapore seem just like templates plonked into each town centre tiled in different colours, the more recent stations are a far cry from their predecessors.

Take Dover MRT for example. It is a recent addition to the existing East West line, sandwiched between Clementi and Buona Vista Stations. I particularly like the design of this station. Its glass facade provides and preserves an unrestricted vista between the condominium estate on one side, and the Singapore Polytechnic on the other. Love it!

Of course there are the newer North East Line stations. And there are also Expo Station by world renowned Sir Norman Foster and Changi Airport Station by Skidmore Owings & Merril LLP (Design Consultant) and Ove Arup & Partners (Structural consultant).

Perhaps someone should come up with a coffee-table book commemorating the designs of some great looking MRT Stations here in Singapore. Or do they have it already? It'd be something we can impress our 7 millions per annum tourists? Or it will be something that Singaporeans can be proud about. No?
